Flower City

Spring in Rochester is one of my favorite parts of the year. After a long Winter, the flowers and trees suddenly start to come to life -- as does the city. You don't really know enthusiasm until you've seen flocks of Upstate New Yorkers bask in the sun, thawing their skin.

Of course, Spring in Rochester would not be complete without celebrating the beautiful lilacs in Highland Park. In typical Upstate fashion, we have an entire festival to do so.

For the second year in a row, my dear friend Sammi and I took advantage of the bloom to snap some portraits. Sammi blogs as The Soubrette Brunette, and we have so much fun working together to create new content. Her pretty purple dress paired perfectly with the lilacs as we enjoyed a sunny afternoon at the festival.

While the lilacs are fleeting, I'm grateful to have enjoyed them fully this year. What Spring and Summer festivals are your favorites?

Be sure to show some love to Sammi by checking out her blog and following her on Instagram. You're sure to see her face on this blog again!
